And they’re off! Checking in after Week 1 of The Great Trail Treasure Hunt

By:

The 2019 Great Trail Treasure Hunt is off to a roaring start! Since the contest began on June 19, more than 1,500 entries have been received. We’ve even seen some super-users emerge in the first week of the contest, finding five or more boxes and earning their entry into the special super-user prize draw.

We’re loving all the photos hunters are posting to social media showing the fun they’re having on the Trail. Remember — every photo shared to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #greattrailtreasure earns you an extra entry into the weekly prize draws. Keep reading for some highlights from Week 1!

First boxes found

The very first box to be found in this year’s Hunt was Box 89 on the Saint John to Hampton trail segment in New Brunswick. It was found by Lisa Lessard of Quispamsis, N.B. just 31 minutes after the treasure map went live! Also swift out of the gate were Tim Giesbrecht of Winkler, Man., who found Box 22 49 minutes into the contest, Darryl Wood of New Glasgow, N.S., who found Box 63 within 56 minutes, and Nicole Boomhour of Toronto who found Box 90 in just under an hour.

Super-users

As mentioned above, hunters who find five or more boxes earn entry into a special “super-user” prize draw that includes a hiking trip for two in Newfoundland with Quench Trip Design. Already, a few hunters have gone above and beyond the minimum requirement for entry, searching far and wide on The Great Trail for as many boxes as possible. Here’s a look at some of the leading finders so far:
